The tool is light weight and has good positive grip. The fine point makes it easy to locate the layout markings and the smooth action means it doesn't move when compressing the spring. When marked you may find that you need a more positive mark but it makes it easy to locate a centre punch and give a good tap with the hammer.

I thought I'd treat myself to a decent automatic punch from a well known manufacturer. It certainly looks the part, but:- The action is not reliable, or repeatable with any confidence. The business end is not adequately heat treated. Should have got myself a Moore&Wright!

Sharp tip stays sharp. Adjustable punch force is good when marking soft or thin materials.

It just doesn't work when compressed, no reaction at all. Bought an excellent make but let me down
