I've matched up the Shimano DL 2500 FB to a Korum 10ft feeder rod and the two pair up a treat. I was using an older Shimano match reel on the rod, which to be fair is a great reel, but after numerous violent takes whilst fishing for small carp (1 - 7lb) which broke me, I decided a bait runner was needed. The DL 2500 FB Is a great compact baitrunner, very smooth and balanced. The line spooled well and even when using fresh line (6lb Berkeley) it sat neatly, without any spring off or tangles. The rear and front drag features work very well throughout the tension settings.

This is a great Reel, baitrunners just allow ya a bit of piece of mind if you just need to turn away, great at almost everything, they better after a little use to, I go a 2500 for the match rod and 2 4000’s for my feeder rods. These at full retail are £90, NO 4000 size reel is work that, I paid £55 because I got 3 when they were listed at £65. You won’t be disappointed how they perform though……

Used it for the first time today. Very nice reel smooth winding easy bail arm. Didn't try the free spool.

Bale arm on both 2500 reels I brought seems quite flimsy and only trips back in the position it likes . Not as good quality as my 20 year old 5010 reels which actually still work better than the new ones .
