It actually works! You will be impressed.
These Powerline AC1200 adapters were the solution to connect a wired IP camera mounted to an outbuilding 75 feet away from my house to my network without running a wire. I tried an Ethernet to WiFI wireless adapter, and after spending several frustrating hours trying to make it work, it just could not make the distance. I received these adapters and plugged them into outlets that are in two separate buildings but connected to the same electrical panel. I plugged in the Ethernet cable from my router into one and the Ethernet cable from my camera into the other. As soon as I paired the adapters the camera was connected to my network. Absolutely no configuring needed. I don't know what sorcery this is or how these work, but I am extremely pleased with how easily it solved my problem.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not really worth product
If you don’t have network in your room at all, use it. If you have high speed internet(800Mbps) at home, do not expect it gives your computer the same speed as it comes from the modem, guess what number? Just around 50Mbps! Even the source and receiver are in the same room, Max is 100Mbps. That is all I can share! Don’t expect it can give you close or even same speed as your modem!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

These things really do work!
It's a great a solution that was budget friendly, and saved us pulling our hair out when our wifi was getting hiccups in the middle of the workday! This unit was easy to set up the first time we bought it, and it was easy for us to use this new set to add to our existing network. Our house was built in 1992 -- I've heard folks in some homes having issues with "separate circuits due to different sides of the circuit breaker" but evidently that's not an issue for us. And now we can also save our wifi for the devices that don't have ethernet inputs! There are also two tips people should be aware of when holding the SECURITY button to initialize either the original set or a new set. First, hold it down long enough until it blinks (which is mentioned on the Netgear website, though not in the instructions in the box). Second, if it's not blinking for you, try "rolling" the button under your finger a little bit to change where the pressure is being put on the underlying circuit board.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great product.
Product is good but it all depends on the signal you get from your wall outlet. Set up is so easy, just plug and play. You can also find the manual online through Netgear website. Product performance depends on your skills and the way you can find the right outlet or spot in your house. It took me awhile to find the best and right outlet but it’s on the odd place (in the kitchen close to the sink) however the coverage is great considering it can reach up to the 2nd floor as well as our driveway.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Don’t waste your money
I pay for 600 mbps Internet and get almost that much if I’m hard wired. Unfortunately, there’s no good way to run an Ethernet cable from my cable modem to my office desktop. That’s why I bought the power line. My WiFi speed is already over 250 mbps so I was hoping the power line would give me something better than that. Instead, it reduced my speed to anywhere from 35 mbps to 90. While I was troubleshooting with netgear’s pathetic tech support, they told me I should be happy with 90 mbps because it’s “a pretty good speed.” They won’t replace my product even though the hardware was deemed defective. Nice idea. Not the best execution, but still much cheaper and easier than running Cat 6 cable.
The "quick set-up" instructions were basically worthless since they lacked any real specifics like what port on the router to plug the ethernet cable into. Also, as noted by several online reviewers, the unit blocks the other receptacle in a duplex, so it really needs two pass-thru outlets, not just one. Lastly, the unit keeps putting itself on "standby" and I have no idea how to make that stop. If NetGear wants to come out with a great upgrade (IMO), they should develop one of these that has both an ethernet port and wifi capabilities in a single unit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A good option for simple circuits
They work well, actual performance is very dependent upon number of breakers and such crossed. Example, going through 2 breaker boxes, about 80 feet of wire with 2 junction boxes drops bandwidth down to about 25 Mbps, while two outlets on the same breaker and only about 30 feet of wire sees nearly the full 1200 Mpbs.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

MSRP Is around $80, but I bought it for $30. Because of the great deal I got, I'm very satisfied with it. My speeds went from 45 Mbps over WiFi to 85 Mbps with the powerline. In my case they even worked across branch circuits - I have my Suddenlink router/modem plugged into an outlet that is one one 120V branch of the house main 240V, and have another plugged into an outlet that is on the other 120V branch, and communication seems good.
