  • High quality, decent price, and utterly reliable mag for your 1911

My first experience with a Mec-Gar 1911 mag was when I had a nickel version (unmarked) shipped as a factory mag with a stainless Kimber years ago. The mag box is essentially identical to a mil-spec GI magazine- the secret to this mag's greatness is in the follower and spring. The mec-Gar follower has a tab extending down from the from of the stepped follower, unlike the standard flat metal GI follower. This feature prevents the follower from tilting down and failing to engage the slide stop after the last round. It also prevents the follower from sliding forward after the last round, as happens with the mil-spec follower. When this happens on a GI-style mag, it fails to engage the slide stop, and also hangs out the front of the mag far enough to prevent ejection of the empty mag; it has to be forcible ripped from the gun, which is hard to do without an extended baseplate attached. These Mec-Gar mags will never do that. In addition, the stepped follower design is 100% reliable in locking the slide back, at least on all of my 1911's. The springs are wound with smaller coils at the top, which are positioned at the rear of the spring, making it easy to prevent assembling it backwards. With a welded floorplate, these mags strip and reassemble through the top just like a mil-spec, with only a little extra attention needed to get the follower in and out properly. In short, if you have a mil-spec 1911 or just like the look of a flush-fitting traditional magazine, but you want one that is utterly reliable, these are an excellent choice.

  • Rock Island Armory GI model now has a functioning MAG!

With all the issues of different magazines and the extra length of the Factory 8RD mag, this is the perfect Magazine for the RIA GI. Gives it the classic look (7RD), No more feeding issues and locks the slide back every time! Mec-Gar 1911 7rd and 10rd mags have functioned better than any other magazine i have used!

  • It's a good magazine.

I noticed this magazine wasn't stamped with the mecgar logo or the .45 stamp. I don't know if some of these magazines come like this or if it's a clone... But it looks Identical to the mecgar magazine that I have with thier logos on it. It works well. I'm happy with the purchase. Not sure the issue with logo stamping though.. kinda makes me wonder...

  • Exceeded my expectations

I typically do a fair amount of homework before I make firearm accessories and kits online. So I definitely thought for the price and specifications it was to good to be true. Well I received my MecGar mag on time, and it was the same day I was breaking in my RIA .45. After 175+/- rds thru the factory ACT mag a crack appeared at he top/back of the mag, rendering it useless. So I cleaned the pistol and put 200 rds thru it with the new MecGar without one jam or malfunction. This magazine is as good as any other overpriced, name brand mag. Don’t miss this deal

  • Most reliable magazines,

These magazines simply work, all the time, every time. I've tried more expensive and less expensive. I will stick with Mec-Gar from now on. This particular model does not have the #4-40 holes for butt pad mounting, otherwise it's perfect.

  • Mec-Gar Magazines are the OEM for SDS Tisas 1911A1

My Tisas 1911A1 45 ACP came with a Mec-Gar magazine and it works just fine. I own a combination of Mec-Gar and Wilson Combat magazines and I have no troubles with any of these magazines. Also, the Tisas 1911A1 is a wonderful 1911A1 WW2 version handgun is a amazing 1911 for the price.

  • Excellent 1911 mag.

My 1911 came with a Mec-Gar from the factory. This extra one I bought is even nicer. Very nice bluing/finish. Seems like it would have cost more considering the quality. Worked with 100% reliability
