    Horses for Courses

A very vestal saw, worth the money. To reach high branches, we attached it to a painters pole, taped with gaffer tape and tried. Lower branches - no problem. Further up we went, problems start to arrive. Unless you have the physic of Arnie Swazinniger, the Technic of sawing is very physically demanding, with our painters pole, energy is expended with little result. The option of buying the extension poles may be the answer, we resolved the problem by using a ladder - which the whole purpose of using a tree pruning saw was to overcome. Poles cost v saw cost v ladder, its a judgment call.

    Flexes far too much

It's sharp and it will cut but it has a flimsy cheap feel to it and compared to the competition flexes far too much. If you are only going to prune the odd branch now and then and the branch is not very high then this will probably be ok for the job. I gave up on it. I needed to do a lot of pruning at height so invested in the Darlac Expert Pole and pruning saw. This is a different beast The saw blade is rigid, extremely sharp and coupled with the admittedly heavier Expert pole a dream to use. With no flex even when fully extended. If money is tight and you are not going to be doing a great deal of pruning, the DP564 and associated pole will probably do the job. There are better alternatives out there, admittedly few extend to the 5m that the darlac does..

only cut a couple of branches no more than 25mm and it bent where the blade joins the shaft, needs to be made stronger.as for the blade time will tell.

Very good, strong saw. But one big minus - there is no safety sheath. This tool is lethally dangerous and the blade is covered only by a cardboard sleeve. This is a serious omission by Darlac as it can affect customer safety quite substantially.

  • poorly designed handle

not very good quality, but the main problem is the handle, poor design, not at all comfortable to use and unless you are careful, you can cut your hand on the top of the blade which joins with the incredibly poor designed handle.

  • Not for Tree Surgeons

Purchased this item to replace the blade on my own manual high-rise. The blade bends at the fixings & isn’t the best quality cutter. Disappointed sorry 😐

  • Very useful but too lightweight

The saw's major attraction is that it connects to the Darlac SWOP-TOP system, allowing pruning at heights that would otherwise be unreachable from the ground. It is also inexpensive. However it is too lightweight : the blade flexes alarmingly when applying pressure to cut. A thicker more rigid blade would not be significantly heavier and would be much easier to use.

  • Just the tool for those difficult to reach branches.

Easily managed, especially when working at maximum height, lightweight & very sharp.

  • ace

this is a brilliant saw because of the curve of the blade and the quality of the steel . I have now bought three .
