This is simply placed under the gravel, attach the carbon filter to the top to remove toxins and organic dyes from the water. The undergravel filter does require an air pump to operate which is not included in the Bowl Filter option, so you will need to attach to your own air pump.

Worked great for 2 days
Worked for 2 days, then stopped producing bubbles. Opened up the filter and noticed that the rubber seal had ripped. Waste of money! Stay clear!

Gold fish bowl filtration starter kit
This item seems to be a worthy investment especially as I did not want to purchase a fish tank as I prefer the goldfish bowl. The fish seem content and though it may sound a little noisier than that of a small tank I actually don't mind a bit of noise if it means the fish are better having one of these in the bowl. Was not expecting much but it's turned out to be a very good purchase and though it's only been running a few weeks, so far, I have not had any issues with the equipment or reason to think there is likely to be any concerns as the filter works fine the bubbles seem to amuse both me and the fish. If you are like me and not wanting a fish tank then this is ideal to sit in the middle of the gold fish bowl.
