You would be a fool to pass on OKC3S
I am a USMC veteran and I have used many knives and a few bayonets in the field from ranging from the old school M7 to the M9, the infamous Kabar and numerous iterations of other OKCs, Benchmade, Gerber, Strider, Buck and the like. As with all knives, bayonets and tools having their strengths and weaknesses, I have found that this to be the best balance of jobs that you can use this for without failing and having the confidence that you can tackle anything that presents itself. First and foremost this tool is designed as a tool for conflict, but it can function as a survival and or bushcraft knife (This will strike and cast sparks from a Ferro rod) effectively if it has to. Having worked with this tool before, I have never had anything that I felt more comfortable and confident to work with if I had to go back onto the field of battle, use fishing and hunting, bushwhacking, or as a general camp chore knife. It is a full tang bayonet and by far surpasses the M7 and M9 (M9 is not a full tang). When I was back in I had a Kabar for a very long time before the OKC3S and I personally believe that the OKC3S has surpassed the modern made Kabar in terms of reliability and durability. This old Marine would choose the OKC3S over the Kabar…. But in a regular knife configuration as called the Chimera by OKC, please stay away from the Chimera as it is not full tang, but a rat tang. You can’t go wrong with the OKC3S!
