Super tone , the best [ if u follow the tips above ] Requires a stand that will open to the OD of the drum 16"
Great tone , tip - make sure the bottom [ centre ] of yr snare stand "just touches lightly " the snares on the bottom head [ put a few inches of duct tape under the snares [ on the bottom head ] where the " light contact " is , [ takes away the overtones majorly ] and leaves a great deep and crisp tone [ luv it ] ** also use the usual dampening ring
** if u have to , make some kind of sponge spacer to take up the space between the snares and the centre of the stand so it stops overtones
[ maybe glue gun it on when uve established the right stuff and dimensions ]
Very heavy, everything made extremely well. Works best with thinner heads. Beware of hoops, tho - the full extension of the wood hoops is nearly 16" in diameter; the drum did not fit in 3 of my 4 snare drum stands, & only barely in the 4th one. Otherwise sounds very good.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this snare but it is very impressive and fun to play. Easy to tune, sounds good across all tuning ranges. The maple hoops make for some tasty rum shots. Excellent hardware. I would have no problem gigging with this snare. It’s great for recording too. Definitely a nice addition to the collection.
