Works well but be gentle with the connections
I took a punt and bought a refurbished one at reduced price and installed it on Android pad and a smartphone.
Initial channel scanning is best done when connected to the tv antenna at home - this gives a good strong signal for channel acquisition. The unit can then happily work from a portable antenna, provided there is reasonable source signal where you use it.
The unit gets hot on initial scanning - the receiver is tiny, so heat dissipation is difficult. I found on initial scan for each device that the unit overheated and the app froze, but after disconnecting and allowing to cool it installed successfully on the second scan.
The supplied portable antenna is a good match physically to the tiny receiver unit. I also bought a more substantial portable antenna for use in weak signal areas, but the connectors for these are massive compared to the tiny receiver, so care must be taken in handling or the connections will get distorted and damaged. That will limit the practical use of the device when travelling because the unit will have to be placed in a fixed, stable position when viewing in order to avoid damaging the connectors.
