Simple as...
It really is a plug and play product. Setting up the phone directory and distributing the numbers around the handsets is a little tricky. Set up suggested that it would be wise to insert batteries, charge for 6 hours and then let them drain. It took about a week for them to drain completely! That suggests there is plenty of time for my wife to talk to her sister. Those calls last almost a week!

It came setup when connected
I could not believe how easy it was to set up, I switched on the power and left it for an hour to charge, and it rang for the first time, I heard that the answering machine worked when we went out, when it rings you just pick it up and talk, and just hang up by returning to the cradle, also a very detailed manual comes with it, too easy.

Gigaset A220A cordless phone with answering machine (trio kit)
So far phone works well but answering machine displays 'new message' every time there is a missed call as well as any message left This can be annoying especially as there is no caller ID ever displayed . Also there is no flashing light to indicate that there is a new message. Will be upgrading to a better answering system but will have to get one that will be compatible with the A220 handsets.
