I got this because they feature in the Tackmat layout mat I bought as a template. This housing set includes a bar that can connect the motor to the control bar on a points track segment as an alternative to mounting a points motor on the underside of a board with track laid on it. Setting the motor into the corresponding slots in the housing has enabled me to experiment with the points using a maleable temporary adhesive to hold it onto the track mat or straight onto the floor. This keeps the motor iand track n place while the motor pushes or pulls the control bar on the points track (depending which way round you mount the motor). Points require quite precise alignment. Very handy while I decide what I want and how to do it. Really helpful to have all that experience without the cost of making holes in a big board. I then pack it all away again and store the mounted motor in the packaging this housing came in The external design is 'timeless' so sits well beside both my modern and Era 1 locomotives. I also managed to mount cell powered LEDs to be activated while the points were engaged, so I remembered to dis-engage them again. It also looks pretty cool where modern signal lights wouldn't really suit the 1800s vibe. I've got a good collection of these housings and motors now, so I can create quite complex set ups. As a budding modeller I could have Improvised these. These days I have limited time to build layouts so these are priceless timesavers. Read full review
