For the price, really good tools. Heavy construction and nicely finished. They seem to be a kind of hybrid between carving and turning tools. Still, you do get 12 tools for less than the price of a single professional gouge. The main drawback is that it takes ages to get them into working condition for wood carving. They are stout and ground at a very steep angle, so they have to be reground to a much lower angle (I use 18 degrees outside, 10 deg inside). Then you have to hone and buff them, as you do with any new tool. So, they can't really be used out of the box. COnclusion: Good for roughing out, but too stout for fine work.

Items required some work to get sharp, more than just honing was required. Nicely finished handles just the blades needed work. All in all I was happy with the purchase as the quality was acceptable for the price and after putting in some work they are now ready to do some carving at a reasonable price.

As a novice to woodcarving I did not want to buy high end tools until I was sure I would make full use of them. I have previously bought a set of spanners of the same brand and was impressed by the quality of them so I bought these chisels. They are well made with good quality alloy steel blades and well fitted handles. Some of them needed sharpening before use but I have tried them on hard seasoned oak and am very pleased with the results.
