It was very easy to put together, but: The steam sound is very artificial and the whistle is simply horrible. The only way to make the sound a little better is to place the speaker into a cardboard tube of at least 40 cm length. The adjustment potentiometers are only effective on a very small width, otherwise the sound will sound like just noise. A digitized sound would have been much better, and there should be a natural variation in the presence of the sound, now it is the same all the time. It was possibly a good idea, but it failed to deliver an authentic believable steam engine sound.

I am a retired quality control at GB circuits, the only thing letting the kit down is the quality of the circuit board, even with a temp controlled iron some of the tracks are very flimsy and tend to lift causing a open circuit, after repairing the circuit's the kit is not bad at all, so overall pleased, ps just take extra care when soldering
