Had a replacement SKY+ HD box? Lost your SKY in other rooms? Here's the complete answer.
If you've had a situation in which the man from SKY has come to call and ended up fitting a replacement SKY+ HD box then you'll quickly become aware that you can no longer watch sky in other rooms if you previously had the signals from the original box connected to these rooms. The reason for this is that the replacement box no longer incorporates the three UHF/RF terminals (1x IN & 2x OUT). The fitters from SKY generally fail to mention this lost feature and are all too keen to get done and gone. SKY do actually have their own solution to this (SKY IO-LINK) but it is only a partial solution as it only has one IN terminal and one OUT terminal. This offering from Triax connects in the same manner as SKY's own IO-LINK but restores all three terminals that you would have had on your original box and work in the same way as before, albeit with a little bit of tinkering in the secret installer menu (I forgot to mention that I am a TV service engineer of more than 40 years experience). The picture and sound quality that can be obtained through this unit is comparable to that of the built-in feature of the previous generation of SKY+ HD boxes and is easily acceptable but, as with the original, don't expect HD quality in the other rooms as this is a lower resolution signal modulated onto an analogue RF channel. It's a bit pricier than SKY's IO-LINK but is a more complete solution to the sudden loss of signals in the other rooms for those who've found themselves in the situation described above. All in all, a very neat piece of kit that does its job well and requires only a small amount of setting up. I highly recommend this unit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
