Great Product - with an itch

Performs as all TP-Link products - very, very well. TP-Link have centred on the fact that simple: works. Unlike previous products (and no doubt, corrected in newer ones) TPL decided to build power-saving into these plugs. I have only tested these on Non-MS platforms. Where "homeplugs" just work these have a flaw, they can work for 5mins or 5hours (it is very sporadic) but when they sleep they cannot be woken. Multiple online solutions include un-plugging and re-plugging and this works - for a time, others require significant technical knowledge. Unlike other companies we will not mention here (but you know who they are) would take this as a gift from the gods, obsoleting that particular product, forcing you to purchase their later/latest offering, TPL did not. TPL releases a utility that turns off power-saving in the AV500, rendering the problem harmless. But only for MS platforms. As a Linux user a more prosaic solution had to be found, there are many out there. I find this the easiest to use: Open the Terminal and Ping your router. Elegant in it's simplicity, but brilliant and conceived by a Linux user much cleverer than myself. This means to an end can be adapted by technical users into to Start-Up Script and Activated to run as your machine starts. My preferred method: create a Launcher for the desktop with a simple ping command to my router and tick "Run in Terminal". This I double click when I reach my Desktop at start-up. TP-Link, I think, make the best networking products for Price, Ease of Set-up & Reliability - tested over 15 years, but the AV500 has an itch!

  • Most critical review

Small & unobtrusive, easy to set up but intermittently "jumps" out of internet.

Already had a Starter kit working perfectly but since adding this extra one, it keeps "jumping out". Sometimes it's possible to re-boot immediately but sometimes I can't back online until I've turned off & left it for hours.

  • AV 500 Powerline

Bought these to see if they would improve my internet access to Netflix etc, as my WiFi is pretty erratic with lots of buffering. You just plug these adaptors in and they pair up automatically, what a difference now, No Buffering or stutters and a perfect stable signal wherever these little boxes are installed.

  • Perfect and superb value

These replaced a network of old 85Mbps ones. The new ones are perfect, you simply plug them in and they work. Small and light. Nothing else really to be said except that one of the boxes I received still had the plastic coversheet on the devices, so they had every appearance of being new. The other box, they were perfect also. In terms of speed, they are more than adequate for household use. The rated speeds of these devices are always way over what you actually get, but the limit is probably not the adaptors but the attached devices. In any case the resulting network is far better than wifi. Generally if you get ten years out of these devices you are doing well, but these run cool and fast and replacing them from time to time is what you pay for not having to lay cable everywhere into a hub. Won't do better than this.

  • A great way to network your house or office

I have used these useful products for a number of years now and they work really well. Better than wi fi and far cheaper than hard wired.

  • Nice item to use and not have to run cables

Used this to link two Vivo boxes together. Works well. Once installed, the buttons need pressing to rest the original unit we had and this new one we added. Once reset all works well.

  • Alot better than expected

Used for nearly 2 weeks, plugged into my X box and a WiFi extender, house is around 15 years old and I'm getting constantly the top of my range for Internet speeds. No issues with dropping. Takes seconds to reconnect if I turn them back on. Genuinely not sure how I managed without them, the definition of plug and play, and works without fault.

  • Refurbished but in excellent condition

I bought this to connect my PS4 with a data cable and it works perfectly well. Good and reliable speed. I would recommend it!

  • Hoping for better

For some reason a I thought a signal through the wires would be constant. But it fluctuated between no better than the wi-fi strength I have to half the speed of the wi-fi signal. I wouldn't waste your money unless you have no signal at all. Minimal improvement if at all for £50
