    Great Strings, but….

    I’ve always played Rotosound round wound strings, on my basses, but they have taken their toll on my much used Rickenbacker frets. After a fret dress I decided to try flats to limit any more wear. I knew from reviews, that the flats tension was high, so I went for a set one gauge lighter than my usuals. The sound is really nice & they are beautiful to play, but the tension is really too high for me, and my Ricky. My fretting hand gets tired qui ckly when playing fast punk runs. If you play at a slower pace, and have a low action, you may be ok, but I would recommend you buy 2 gauges lighter than you usually use.

    New life to an old bass

    I bought these strings to experiment with on my 73 Jazz Bass. I gigged it with a classic rock covers band I play with occasionally and the sound of these flat wounds on the Jazz Bass is the perfect combination for this style of music. So tight and punchy and a solid foundation that complements the mix perfectly. So much so that my other band members all made unsolicited positive comments. I would strongly recommend bass players invest in a set of these; you may never look back.

    Classic sound and feel with a coating that doesn't wear off

    The classic strings: that special tape winding gives them a smooth flat feel - almost like a double bass - but there's just enough of a round edge to give a twang if you slap them hard. The stainless finish lasts for many years of gigging. Don't imagine a cheap set will save you any money because the coating always goes first.
