An excellent work-belt, but...
I’m asked in this review if this Snickers belt is ‘Good value’ and ‘Good quality’ however the only answers I can choose are 'yes' or 'no'. There needs to be something in between because it is, but only partially - typical eBay! However when aasked "Would you recommend it?" My answer is 'Yes'. But this is only because I haven't found anything better ...Yet. I have several of these Snickers belts chosen because of the relatively soft plastic on the buckle that slightly protects scratches to paintwork while working on my classic car. I found the belt practical and good for my job in the aviation industry too. However the fact the buckle is plastic is also it’s weak point - the bar that the webbing is sewn onto is it’s Achilles’ heel, and I have had two break. (I repaired these by bonding a thin metal ‘u-section’ to the broken bar with JBWeld, but I have a industrial sewing machine to re stitch the webbing on. I realise not everyone has this facility). Having said that, it’s probably the best work belt out there but due to its potential weakness, it really needs a slight redesign to make the bar that the webbing is attached to, a lot stronger. I also notice that on my oldest belt that the locking “click” of the buckle is not as positive as my new one, which means the old buckle is wearing, but the belt is about four years old and used daily, so fair wear and tear - it still works well. (I also have one of the so-called high-vis belts by Snickers, identical in every way except its colour, but the yellow is not proper neon-bright dayglo that you would expect in a High- visibility belt, and neither is there any 'reflective' element to it, it's more like a plain primrose yellow!) In conclusion it’s a strong belt - with a relatively scratch-free buckle. Finally choose the belt length carefully - I choose a much longer length than I need, so that when I drop my trousers to go to the loo I don’t need to fully disengage the buckle (I’m a 34” waist and use the 110cm belt to achieve that).
