Perfect temporary solution for windows that need replacing.

Having moved into an old house that needs upgrading, these insulation kits are a fantastic temporary solution for old, draughty windows and doors. I initially purchased 4 packs to try them out and soon returned for another 6 to complete the rest of the house. They’re easy to fit and have made a huge difference. I no longer wake up to windows covered in condensation and the house is warmer. The tape has held most of the plastic in place, but on doors/windows where the paint was flaking I used additional gaffer tape. On some smaller windows I didn’t even need a hairdryer to ‘iron out’ the wrinkles. I doubt I’ll have the funds to replace all doors and windows soon, so I will definitely buy more next winter!

    Partly works

Firstly I had a different size of window so I could not install the foil in 1 go. I had to cut and fix 2 pieces of the foil which doesn't give a full insulation. The tape is rubbish. I suggest you to support at the end with a usual sticky tape the frame. However it cant provide a full insulation for me but I can already feel the difference on my single glazed window. Its warmer a bit already. Don't expect magic from this products, quality is max 3* out of 5* but It will do a warner room for you. Also you may wish to watch YouTube video of how to put in on.

  • not a great product

not an easy product to use, but I cant compare to a more expensive version. I might try a more expensive brand to see how much difference there really is. I dont think the product is Useless. I bought two packs to do two windows. cutting the sheet for the window frames is quite awkward and you might need to create a fair bit of floor space to measure and cut your sheets. the adhesive tape is not great. once I managed to cut my sheets, apply the adhesive to the frame and attach the sheet you need to be really careful when using the hairdryer or the sheet will shrink away from the adhesive and you'll need to cut a new sheet. the sheets are not easy to apply to the tape without leaving some tiny space for air and moisture to enter, thus causing condensation and thus ruining the adhesive effect of the tape.

This product really works and I found fitting if was easy, however, read the full advert (I never) and check the sizes. The advert says fits up to 3 standard windows but I only had enough to do one window on a door which wasn't very big and there's no way its gonna cover 3 windows unless you have very small windows. As I said the product is good and it works, would buy again if I had small windows.

  • when you havent got K glass or triple glazing

our double glazing is a few years old, and in winter they condense which is a nuisance we have been using a dehumidifier but expensive to run, when I saw this advertised on e-bay I thought I would give it a go, it takes a bit to fit but well worth taking your time, and once its fitted and you have gone over it with a hair dryer to shrink it you cannot tell it is on, and touch wood we are not getting the same amount of condensation.

  • Window Insulation Kit Shrink Fit Film

Good item in theory bought for a good price with free shipping. Well the problem lies is the film once applied corectly doesn't stay tight it wrinkles after a while which is a pain so you keep having to correct it by using your hairdryer to remove the wrinkles. I've been using this kit for a few years now during the winter months mainly in my bedroom to keep the draft out. Works very well to keep the cold out just keep checking the film is kept tight on your window. You know it's working as when you check your window before and after the film is applied the window temperature is less cold.

  • Ideal to reduce condensation

I needed to reduce the condensation on my single glazed bathroom windows and this product worked very well. I found a youtube video showing me how to put the film on - you just need a hairdryer to tighten up the loose plastic and it works very well. I would recommend this as a very cheap fix.

  • ok as temporary measure

Tried this on a couple of small windows. It's ok as a temporary quick fix but have now had clear acrylic sheets made to measure and stuck them in with adhesive velcro so can remove them for window cleaning and fresh air in summer.

  • Excellent price and does the job

I needed this to stop condensation and damage of wooden frame on double glazed windows. Plastic film a bit on the thin side so one has to be careful not to pull too much when mounting it in place but it does the job as well as more as kits that cost four times as much. Instructions not great but for the tricks of the trade YouTube provides what is missing. Will buy again as it works well as insulator on double glazing too.

  • Excellent product.

I bought this just to try to see if it would reduce the condensation which appears every cold morning on the inside of my double glazed bathroom window. It not only reduced it, it eliminated it! O.K. we haven't had the really cold mornings we had (so far!) but other windows show signs of condensation and my bathroom is free of it, so I'm confident. It was easy to apply, although I would advise cutting it to 1" greater than needed beforehand to make it easy to handle (spread it out on the carpet or a bed). It is also very forgiving re wrinkles which disappear easily on applying heat and is not easily noticeable.
