good product but not perfect, read details in review
Even with correct macro lens, one cannot copy slides at 1:1 ration (full frame of slide) because product was designed for film cameras, not digital. Image is cropped because slide needs to be slightly further away from front of lens. Device needs additional accessory of 52mm filter tube extender, length will depend on if sensor is full size or reduced. And of course it needs extension tubes which I had and knew were required. Not a great solution
I thought this would be a great alternative to a flatbed scanner, but I have been disappointed. The price is way too high, as one would expect from Nikon. With a 60 mm micro lens and an extension tube I can copy slides, but much of the side is cut off when I use a Nikon D7000 or a D90. Great idea, super product
I am 70 years old. I have been taking pictures since I was 18 years old. By some I am considered a professional photographer. I have tried a number of different slide copiers. I am not interested in copying all my slides, I have probably 10,000 slides, it was just about the only film I used for years and years. I even had my own dark room service where I only did type R processing, which means I did not use any internegs of slides, I printed directly from slides to paper. I absolutely love the ES-1. It is simple to use and unlike other slide copiers you actually have some control over the copy process. I have a Nikon D810 and a D750. I use a 60 2.8 micro lens with the adapter. You will find that it was designed for the 50 micro, but works well with the 60. It is honestly a fun thing to use, since I have control I can make some adjustments to the slide in the camera when I am taking the picture. I like the fact that I can move the slide around a bit so I can do some cropping when I am taking the picture. The tube extends some so you can really crop if you want to. Clever device at an affodable price
The Nikon ES-1 together with a suitable camera and macro lens is the easiest and best way to copy mounted slides in terms of quality, much better than a prosumer slide scanner. A Nikon full frame camera and a quality macro lens is recommended. The adapter is metal and of high quality as one would expect from Nikon. The slides are held perfectly flat and parallel to the plane of the camera sensor which is often a problem when using other copying methods. It is really quick to change slides as well. It can be used with other lenses besides those recommended by Nikon but each setup needs to be assessed individually, as the critical thing is that the lens will focus close enough. If not, it is possible to buy adapters which fit in front of the lens to increase the distance between the lens and the slide. Great Way to copy Slides
I am writing this review to let everyone else in my shoes know that this product is working great with my Nikon D3100 DX and Nikkor AFS Micro 40mm combination. After watching several videos I created a basic set-up as shown in the photo. I use a wireless flash trigger, a diffused flash and some regular lamp. I set the white balance to custom and the results are satisfactory to me. I have located our old slide collection all the way from 50's to 70's around 3000 slides. With this set-up I can do about 30 slides in an hr. including basic editing of images. Hopefully within a few months I will have transferred all the collection to digital platform. I am also attaching a copied slide by using this product.

Slide copier gets the job done. Built good.
The Nikon adapter is a bit high price for me. But I needed something durable than my home made tube. Over all it does a good job for copying slides and it will always be a part of my useful accessories. It would be great if they had some sort of negative tray but that is wishful thinking. Good quality but need older Nikon lens
I have used this to transfer slides to digital. Works with older Nikon micro (macro) lenses (55 2.8 and 60 2.8 AI or D versions) with a 52mm filter thread. I was able to adapt for use with another Nikon micro lens by using an 18mm extender and got good resolution by using a high megapixel camera.
