Haunting Lost Songs of St Kilda
This CD is a lovely recording of tunes specific to St Kilda which were orchestrated based on piano versions by an elderly former resident of St Kilda. The songs would have been lost which would have been a tragedy, as many are haunting tunes depicting the bleakness of St Kilda, some are fun dance tunes, but all depict an era when folk songs and tunes were part of the identities of communities. The tunes from this now deserted island just off the coast of Scotland now have a chance to live on. Totally absorbing relaxation music
All tracks bar one feature piano simply played almost single note style. There is no singing. Differentiation between tracks I found difficult. However ,it is evocative of a hard but simple life on St kinda and if you have been you will appreciate it .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
