Windsor & Newton Cotman Water Color Travel Bag
I'd looked at the Cotman water color palette that comes with this set many times in the past year in Hobby Lobby and kept putting it back on the shelf as it seemed expensive while I was looking for other art supplies and then inevitably regretted not purchasing it when I was driving home in the truck later (my nearest Hobby Lobby is over 2 hours away so it's a day out for me there and back again). I stumbled across this set by accident and realized that not only was it good value when purchased as a set with the other items contained in the bag but it was actually cheaper purchasing it from the UK than I could get online from other retailers here in the US (also strangely ironic as I used to live in the UK and relocated here many years ago but that's another story) The quality of the items included in the bag are second to none and the bag itself is the perfect size for packing for a field trip. There's enough room in there to add additional items and it's just right - not too big, not too small. I'm very happy with the purchase. It arrived a little later than the shipping estimate, but only by a few days and I felt that the estimated delivery was a little optimistic anyway. Having to wait an extra few days for something from the other side of the world really isn't a big deal and the saving on the price compared to finding it somewhere more local made it more than worth the wait. Watercolour joy!
I brought this travel kit because i am disabled and i find it hard to get out. My husband made me promise i am only to use it when i am out of the house. This kit has everything and is very well made. The paints are a great colour range, the brushes are lovely and there is so much more included in this set that it makes me very excited to use it. An outdoor watercolour painting essential.
I would not want to be without one of these travel bags. They are just the right size to carry paints, brushes, water, pens, pencils, a ruler and a small watercolour pad. I have been known to cut off the belt and buckle to reduce bulk and weight as I think the bag would be too heavy to carry round the waist comfortably. Neat design
I like everything about this field kit except that the paint pans keep popping out. Not good if you are sitting in long grass. An Internet search recommends using Blu-tak to hold the pans securely. I must buy some. I particularly wanted a paint box with a hole in it so I can hold it in my left hand like a round oil paint palette. The paint box feels comfortable held this way.
