Poor quality Abu 507mk11 closed faced fishing reel
I purchased the Abu 507 mk11 closed faced fishing reel with anticipation for the new fishing season. I have used the reel twice and have become increasingly anoid by the line release button. Prior to you casting your line in the water I have to make a few attempts each time for the button on top of the reel to release the line. This happens each time you wish to cast ! Very annoying as you would expect a new real to release the line easily on the first attempt. I would not recommend this reel.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Poor finish on spools
The reel itself was fine straight out of the box, but the moulding of the spools was very poor for such a renowned reel manufacturer. All the spools had large plastic burrs remaining which had to be cut and sanded smooth before use. Once done the reel is ok, but occasionally needs a couple of presses on the button to retract the line pickup pin.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Very poorly finished

Abu 507 MK11 closed face reel
These are brilliant reels but perhaps not for the novice and hobby anglers, I used to fish with the smaller version of this reel in the nineties and I caught a lot fish including double figure carp, it's necessary to be able to touch the bale release button with the index finger, they can be used for trotting on running water or float/waggler fishing on still water, it's necessary to turn the handle one turn after casting to engage the bail pin for the strike, a great quality fishing reel, I hope this information helps.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
