    High quality, little polishing needed.

As with all hand bench planes, some tuning and polishing needs to be done. With the no.3 faithfull I got, I needed to chip off paint that was under the frog. I needed to file down the mouth where the machine job was imperfect. The part the iron sits on coming down from the frog. I had no problem with the frog adjustment screw, or setting the frog position. With the screw all the way in the frog sits perfect. The frog looks really good on both the no.3 and no.4 The iron on the no.3 looks like it has a messed up bevel. The bevel seems to change as it goes from one side to the other. It does nothing bad for the performance. The no.4 iron looked nice and straight. The backs on both irons was already flat. I only needed to sharpen the no.3 and no.4 iron. The chip breakers are only polished where it counts on both the no.3 and no.4. The chip breakers looks good to me. The sole/bottom of both the no3. and no4. looked almost perfect. No work was needed on it. I think the faithfull bench plane was taken from the blueprint of something other than a Stanley. Maybe Stanley is the origin, but I think it's coming from something different. I only needed little work to make these really nice bench planes. They say that any new tool, even used tool, has to be polished before use.

  • Good Plane

Value for price is excellent. The sole is not perfect, but well within my tolerance to work with. The initial griding of the blade had to be adjusted, but since then it holds its edge well, and I can plane oak with interlocking grain with ease with this plane.

  • Good Little Plane

I am pleased with the plane. It seems decently built, the sole took a little flattening but nothing very much. The blade took a good edge and seems to be holding it well. Fore the money I can't really faulty it.

  • Excellent tool at a great price

I spent about 20 minutes flattening and polishing the sole, sharpened and honed the iron and this plane worked like a champion, even better than my old Stanley’s. I’m slowly, as finance permits, changing all my planes over to Faithfull, I now have a 3,4 and 5. The only work required is that which you’d expect from any new plane. The only alteration I make, which I do to all my planes, is remove the rear handle (tote if your American) sand and shape it to fit my hand. I do this by increasing the curve to the horn at the top and at the bottom for the pinkie, I also round out the flat parts running up the sides.

  • One very nice no. 3 Plane

Pleasantly surprised exceeded expectations . Sharpened the blade and made sure sole was flat. Performed as good as any of the five Stanley's I have.

  • nice tool, worth the price.

For the money, a good tool once I spent an hour or two polishing, flattening and sharpening, this is something all planes need.

  • A excellent hand plane once sharpen ready for any wooden job

Above standard great touch with wooden handles .

  • Good quality for money

Model was renewed compared with previous version. Thicker iron, more attractive wooden handles. Sole was almost leveled , needed half an hour to work on. Iron needs sharpening and plane started working as more expensive ones.
