Good to find an eSata enclosure now usb 3 has become mainstream. I used it to house the HDD from my broken laptop to store backup images of my old thinkpads that have eSata but not usb 3. Good speeds on eSata - approx 500 Mb/s, using Reflect. It was easy to assemble and worked straight out of the box, I didn't need to load any software. Instructions are not in very good English and doesn't have a fan (although doesn't seem to get hot) but these are the only negatives. As I have just bought it can't comment about longevity.

To increase the disk space on my security camera system, I needed a eSATA external drive with 2TB disk. In terms of 'external' it needed an external power source. The system couldn't be extended by USB, which supplies power (and data) via the USB connection. So how to get hold of a eSATA, external drive, 2TB, you know what there aren't any on the market that I could find and I looked hard. Local computer shops didn't want to know. It dawned on me to buy an enclosure with eSATA interface and bung in a 2TB disk. This is one of the few eSATA external drive enclosures on the market. If the interface, when it arrived, didn't fit the I have only wasted the cost of an enclosure. It arrived, decent instructions and supplied cable all fitted. Bought a 2TB disk, bunged it in, connected it up. Quick format of disk via camera system and away it all went. If only other jobs went this easily.Read full review
