Tonality is everything.
I had to prepare some monochrome images for exhibition, impact was important but quality had to be retained for the un-framed way in which they were to be exhibited. Photoshop gave a good contrast range from black to white but I needed a more subtle range of greys within the white zones. I purchased Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 on recommendation and was immediately delighted in the way I could improve my images in the way I could during the many years I had been darkroom printing for a National Photographic Archive. Ansel Adams had once visited to see how we produced archival quality prints. For me, Lightroom 5 was more than an excellent software, it was a time machine taking me back to my darkroom days.
