Stand off bracket useful and important safety aid for ladders
Excellent, well made and designed, perfect for its intended use. Thick aluminium and heavy rubber type pads for non slip wall contact. The retaining spring is very strong and holds the stand off firmly but it is very easy to fit to my triple extending aluminium ladder.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Required modification to work
Some assembly required , factory supplied bolts were too short to be used so I had to buy some longer ones . Using this was dangerous until modified due to the fact that the stand off flexed slightly causing the ladder to tilt slightly , this caused the ladder then to slide sideways in the universal brackets ( ladder moved whilst stand off didn't ) then the stand off started scraping along the wall due to momentum . At the top of a 7 meter ladder you do not want any movement! The rung spring clip supplied is unable to provide sufficient tension to prevent this from happening . The rung brackets are too open for the rung which causes movement and also the lower brackets were too high up thereby almost missing the lower rung totally . I drilled and moved the lower brackets further down so they met the next rung , closed up the gap in the brackets using a vice so they just fitted and to make sure it couldn't move sideways again , put a length of rubber on both rungs where the brackets sit . Now it is ok to use , though I still don't really trust it . I will probably Stick to an old fashioned wooden stand off held on with a rope lashing .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Cleaning Gutter
After having a new roof fitter we had a problem with the gutter. Needed to get up to check it out. Standard ladder was useless as couldn't get over to see in the gutter. With this attachment, it held the ladder approx 18" away from the wall. Easy to see right along gutter as I could get above it. It also acted to stabilise the ladder, due to the width of the attachment. A very reasonably priced item. Perfect for gutter cleaning or repairs. Would recommends without reservation. Brilliant Ladder Stay
After lots of research I decided upon this ladder stay for my Zarges ladder. In fact it's basically exactly the same as the Zarges ladder stay but for far less money. Feels secure on the ladder and working at height on it is a delight. Keeps you a nice distance away from the wall and the bonus that you can get over gutters etc thanks to the design. A good ladder stand off but be prepared to make some adjustments.
Having read the reviews I knew the stand off might need some adjustments. So yes, I had to make a few tweaks in order for it to fit my double extending ladder but this was an easy process and it was just what I needed. At the price you can't complain. Good but not perfect
It's not bad but maybe it's just the area where I'm working but every downpipe I've tried to get around so far with this has been too big so the v shape has been pointless for me.
