Good quality replacement erasers
These replacement erasers are great for both fine work and large area erasing quickly. Make sure you use really good quality batteries (a good brand non-recyclable set [[I use Duracell or Energizer alkalines]]) in the electric eraser to complement the quality of the erasers. A slow speed will ruin paper. Will not work on pastels and must be used on good quality paper. Cartridge paper can get chewed up unless you use a delicate hand. Works well with quality coloured pencils such as Derwent, Caran d'ache, prismacolours or polychromos. One issue is that when a refill is less than half remaining the metal holder doesn't hold on to the eraser very well. I've found that saving up your half used erasers and using two end-to-end in the metal holder seems to stabilise the erasers. Be aware that after using two-thirds to four-fifths of the eraser you will just have to throw them away. I've got a friend who has made a holder out of a split bamboo chop-stick that can hold on to a eraser stub well and to be used as a fine manual eraser. He uses a rubber band to pinch the split end of the chop stick and it lets you use up to about 85% to 95% of the replacement eraser. The photos below show me erasing a strip from each medium on cartridge paper with a new replacement eraser and new batteries back and forth four times each.
