Zovirax beats Abreva
Zovirax (acyclovir/aciclovir) works for me. Abreva (Docosanol) just doesn't work at all. Tell the US FDA to "Cease and Desist" in its unjustified protection of Avanir Pharmaceuticals' Abreva as "the only nonprescription cold sore medicine approved by the FDA to shorten healing time". I can get this in the UK or Mexico at any drugstore, gift shop, even in the airport. It should be available over the counter in the US too. I'm not a fan of the pump bottle. I can't tell how much is left in the tube, so I don't know if I need to carry a backup tube or place an order for more. Also, the cap doesn't stay on very well, so if you carry it in your pocket, you risk having the cap come off and having it squirt in your pants.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I have always found this to be effective, especially if applied frequently at the first sign of "Tingling". I rarely develop to actual blisters when using this cream.
