SUPER PIECE OF KIT IT WILL SAVE BUYING NEW BLADES EVERY TIME.

THE SMS2003 IS MUCH MORE STURDY THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FOR THE £££. SETTING UP THE SHARPENER WAS NOT DIFFICULT OR COMPLICATED AS OTHERS HAVE REPORTED. I AM WELL PLEASED WITHIT. ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT ACTUALLY USED IT TO SHARPEN A BLADE YET I AM VERY CONFIDENT IT WILL WORK FINE. I HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL OF THE SMALL (5 OR 6 mm) BOLTS WITHSOCKET HEAD SCREWS BECAUSE I MUCH PREFER ALLEN KEYS TO SPANNERS WHEN ACCECCABILITY IS DIFICULT. I HAVE MOUNTED THE SHARPENER ON A PIECE OF 3/4'' MELAMINE AND PROPOSE TO CRAMP THIS TO THE BENCH WHEN IN USE.

    NOT so sharp.

I would suggest you check this item out on You Tube before you purchase. The machine is VERY difficult to set up, instructions are pretty useless, you require a magnifying glass to read as print is rather small. After several attempts I decided to throw away the instructions and manually set up the machine using angles from a brand new stock blade and finally got to sharpen a blade, check out blade angles on the internet and set up the machine using blade manufacturers settings and you should manage to get a reasonably sharp blade. I would not purchase this machine again now that I have tried it, think it is probably imported and put in a Sealey box, you would do better to spend your money on new blades.

  • Good Value For Money

I bought this because I had several blades to sharpen and thought this would be a cheaper option than sending the blades away. Up to now I have sharpened 3 blades and all have turned out OK. I read in reviews that setting up was tricky which I didn't really think it was after all there is a certain amount of precision needed with any tool like this, one thing I did find poor is the knob for tightening the arm which carries the blade, you can't tighten it with enough force to hold the blade rigid so I replaced it with a nut and used a spanner to tighten it, problem solved.

  • good motor poor frame

It does work but it's not a roughed set up.I have only sharpened one blade it was 355mm dia which after adjusting the set up 10 minutes iy did clean the face of the teeth .my blade needs the clearance angle ground which this machine cannot do with out some modifications as I Am a welder fabricator i will do latter the motor is very good but the frame is not solid but at £75.00 it worked .as a pro machine would be 4ft tall and 100 kg and £2000 second hand this has a place.

  • Sealey Bench Mount Saw blade sharpener

Basically a good product, which I have improved using some simple modifications. I replaced the original nuts bolts and spanners with other parts. In order to sharpen larger blades I remounted the pivot point for the support arm for holding the blade - however still happy with the product. it takes a little patience to get used to and comfortable the product but it works nicely - very satisfied. An economical answer to sharpening saw blades.

  • Sort of works

Basically it does what it claims to do but it's not all plain sailing. The quality of some of the components are clearly very cheaply made e.g. adjusting bolt head, the supplied spanners, some of the castings but the motor is good as seems to be the diamond blade. It's quite fiddly to initially set up but then does a reasonable job. For teeth that are sharpened at 90 degrees to the face of the blade it's reasonably straightforward but if you have to tilt the cutting disc to suit the face of the teeth then the adjustments are very fiddly and difficult to get spot on. In all, it's an ok machine for the price.

  • Take your time and it’s great

This is a machine that needs extensive adjustment to each and every nut and bolt, it’s time consuming by the results are excellent. I have seven 12” saw blades and lots of other smaller ones that would benefit from a sharpen but the cost would be prohibitive, they’re mainly 60 and 80 tooth. The instructions are more of just a check list so better putting them aside. Every single aspect of this that can be moved should be moved, to fine tune the exact angle of approach, length of stroke, height of support etc. tighten the upright bars really well too. I think it took fully an hour to get things where I needed them and that’s when I found out that upright bars need to be solid plus. After going round the blade and doing the 80 teeth it was astounding how such a bargain machine like this performed. Just one more blade to sharpen and that’s it paid for itself. Serious bargain, just spend the extra time on the setting up. Each blade that’s put in will need tweaks and resetting but yes, it’s definitely worth the effort. The motor was not too loud surprisingly, considering the price and looking at the finish and quality overall. If bolted down it would be very quiet indeed. I have to say that if spending more gets you a more accurately, out of the box ready machine then fine, that’s your choice. I prefer the bargain tools when it comes to jigs etc because there is always the working out done for you and all that’s needed then is time and thought to tune things in. If you have the patience then this is the hands down choice every time.

  • Quality issues

The motor and discs are fine but the instructions are absolutely useless. The angle indicators are less than useless and the setting up system is poor. That said, there is little else on the market to choose from and with perseverance you can grind up your blades so it is still worth buying.

  • Good value and greatly reduces costs in maintenance of table saw blades.

Prior to purchase, the only way I could keep table saw blades sharp was to send them off for cleaning and sharpening by an experienced technician. After some research into maintenance and DIY cleaning/sharpening, I decided to invest in my own sharpener. The range of tools is quite eye-opening - price-wise, however the basics of sharpening are fundamental. Set-up on this machine is really straight forward and the basics require a set up for each blade (tip and cutting parameters vary from manufacturer, use and number of cutting tips are variables that need to be accommodated). Once set up though, the exercise is very therapeutic - well for me anyway, and the results speak for themselves - cleaning of the blade, followed by a careful re-sharpening greatly enhances the life of the blade and easily pays for the initial cost in very short time. Essential for longevity of the machine is availability of replacement abrasives - if this is not problematic then this will be a very sensible addition to a workshop.

  • Keep it sharp

Once I set it up correctly it work better then I thought it would. The blade securing nut is a bit weak so I replace it with a lock nut instead but apart From that it worked better than expected. Now I have 5 fully sharpen blade which save time & money.
