If, like many people, you have found yourself frustrated through being unable to determine the correct name, type, or technical information of a fixing, this item will assist you greatly, but its own description is not immediately logical when trying to solve your problem, but it has already assisted me on an engineering project, which had 'stalled' due to not being able to identify the proper components required to complete!, so, if you 'come across this item in your searches for help, you might be well advised to keep a recorded/written note of its name : a Thread Identifier, for screw threads. It is inexpensive too, so, for obsolete items [for example] this gauge tool is quite invaluable - and I now guard mine forcibly. If there were any criticisms against this product, it would be that I so wish it 'identified' many more fixings, but an indispensable tool to the home engineer, projects, hobbiest, or for professional engineers, as it regularly save many fruitless hours of searching, testing and disappointment.Read full review

An otherwise excellent set of pitch gauges was spoiled by the fact that the gauge for 1.25 mm pitch was missing. This is a common size and was just the one I actually needed! Maybe this was a one-off assembly error, so other examples may be OK. I have no means of telling.
