Fantastic replacement for a Dyson DC01
This vacuum is much lighter, and easier to manouevre, than my old Dyson DC01, and has very strong suction - which may be too much for older users, as it clings to the carpet and you have to put more effort into pushing and pulling it, but the results are fantastic. The hose unclips very easily and the tools fit on the back of the vacuum, and clip onto the house with ease. The hose itself isn't as long as the Dyson DC01's, so I am considering buying an extension hose for it, but the Vax is so light I can easily carry it with one hand if I need to get the hose onto the back of the sofa, or onto the bed, etc. It has a power button and a button to turn the brush bar on and off, so you can turn off the brush bar when using the hose, this is a really useful feature. I also like the fact that the brush bar enclosure is clear, so you can see how much hair, etc. has got gummed up in there, without having to turn the vacuum over. The dirt canister comes off much more easily than on the Dyson DC01, and open with the press of a button, so emptying is easier. It is smaller than the Dyson's though, but I don't think this will be a problem at all. I am, to say the least, VERY impressed with the Vax U87, especially for its lightness and its incredible suction, and also it's much more quiet than my Dyson, so doesn't leave your ears ringing - in fact, it's incredibly quiet when you consider how much more powerful it is than the Dyson.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Fantastic little cleaner.
A little comparison... I had a forty quid Chinese built 1400w drag along special from our biggest supermarket and it wasn't one I'd ever buy again! The pipes were so flimsy, I feared snapping them in use. It sucked okish, the head was rubbish and that combined, made it hard work just vacuuming one room. It took over 20 mins to do my 1 bed flat. BUT this reconditioned Vax C87 is incredibly good! Paid less than my old one, with free delivery from Direct-Vacuums and it came well packaged in its original box. I am very impressed at the quality and feel of all the parts. I am astonished at how much suction the 800w motor provides, it can pull up loose carpet, so I open the small vent slider to stop this! My 1st go with this, it sucked up a whole load of dust from my carpets, my old vacuum failed to touch even when new....4 years worth! Would give my old vac 4/10 for edge cleaning using the main head, this Vax about 7/10 as opposed to a Henry which were always top for edges. You get decent attachments with this and mine came with the 10cm aggetating turbo tool too! Suck it up
Excellent machine. Performs very well and the filter has not gotten clogged-up. It's not too loud. It sucks up a lot of dirt even on a clean carpet so I find that I need to empty collection tube frequently which I do not mind. It's very light weight and easy to manoeuvre. At this price good value
This machine has a very powerful suction, unfortunately this is a problem if you are not very muscular--my wife. The machine is very heavy to pull / push around as the clearance on carpets is too small and you are fighting the suction. I made up some new nylon rollers that created more clearance underneath the powered roller assembly and that made for easier use.
