I bought this because it looked like it had the same chassis as a "Santa Express" loco which came in a set for my grandson. The saddle tank loco is exactly what I had hoped for and more. It runs so smoothly and quietly, has a good weight to it, which allows it to pull quite a few wagons without wheel slip.

Although the Caledonian PUG is in the Railroad range by Hornby, it is attractive and runs well. The early versions ran very fast but thus version is controllable down to reasonably slow speeds. Handrails can be added along with additional painting and lining and this improves the model further. The valve gear is very simple but this is stall an attractive model especially when additional painting and detailing has been carried out.

Excellent packaging. Absolutely lovely loco hardly used, if at all. Runs like a dream in both directions. Can't fault it at all, immaculate.
