General Observation
An excellent Scalextric version of the widely popular Ford ("CND"rear light lenses) Cortina of the 1960s. The Cortina E was described by some distributors at the time as the, "Last word in motoring!". Engine sizes varied from 1300CC to the "souped up" much desired Lotus Cortina. The 1.5 Litre was a popular car with the business world. The first Cortina was an immediate success; reasonably priced, roomy, comfortable and fast for 1960s production cars. The engineering was sound producing a reliable car which was cheap to run and well supplied with readily obtained spares. The Scalectric car is also simply designed, very accurate in shape and thus very nostalgic. It is a model which will give youngsters insight into the sort of cars their Grandfathers drove and for the aged (Such as myself!) it is a nostalgic reminder of the long gone golden age of motoring. I rank the Cortina alongside the equally nostalgic MGB which Scalextric have also produced but not in GT form. I hope Scalextric will keep producing these cars of the past, as many indeed as the locomotives they produce for the steam enthusdiasts.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
