Velleman K8084 Volume and Tone Preamp
Designed really for those who can construct a project with just a circuit diagram and a V-O-M meter. Audio results were pretty decent, but I would recommend against using the ceramic disk capacitors supplied and using quality polyester film components instead.

Works very well between my CD player & Valve headphone amp, no hiss or colouration that I can tell. However I decided to power it from a 15v 0 15v transformer going into a regulated rectifier kit also from Ebay so as to keep the AC away from the unit, I didn't put it in a metal case as advised but kept it in an open frame style.
