The 250W is a good product for hobby work and polishing. I haven't used it much but it did the job when I needed to grind an alloy motorcycle clutch lever that wasn't quite the right shape and smooth off a plastic motorcycle throttle sleeve in order to fit a heated grip. I also used it to re grind a damaged screwdriver and for the odd polishing job. I imagine it will be perfectly adequate for grinding mild steel but for heavier duty grinding go for the 370W version of the machine. I was concerned that it would need mounting on a solid base but actually, with it's rubber feet, it's stable just sitting on the bench which means I can store it out of the way when not in use.
