I’m just an average DIY person more keen than skilful. I decided to get back to basics and buy several hand tools. I have bought tools from Silverline and always been more than satisfied. This plane was reasonably priced and is very sturdy and well put together.

Blade would not sit very flat in the base, making it cut heavily to one side. Had to camber blade quite a bit. This worked fine for me but might not be of use to others

I may have been lucky, but the plane I received had no substantial defects. I had to enlarge the slots in the blade for the lateral adjustment, but that was quickly Done with a fine file. Otherwise all adjustment features seem to work fine. I dont know yet how long the blade will keep its edge, but I had no problem honing it to My normal level of sharpness. So far I am very happy with the plane.

it seems well made and very good value for money given what you can pay for the same sort of item. I bought it to trim oak veneer on door frames, which it did very well, but it has also performed well on a number of other tasks. Small, neat, easy to set up and use it has now taken up residence in my tool bag as a companion on any job I do.
