Well constructed and easy to use - good grip and the ratchet mechanism gives good confidence that the crimp is securely in place. I'm never sure whether it matters which way round the crimp is inserted in the jaws (I'm left handed) and a picture on the packaging indicating the right way to insert it would be helpful.

Ratchet crimpers much better than the crude plier type, and from the few tests I've done ensure a good quality crimp for the vinyl insulated terminals and butt splices. The only downside with cheaper crimpers is lack of quality control. The crimpers I got would "stick" when opening, so the spring wasn't quite strong enough to overcome this and they didn't open fully automatically - requiring one to manually open them enough to get a new crimp in. This was fixed by grinding a part down to ensure smooth operation, followed by silicone grease. Again, this doesn't mean to say all tools from this brand do this, just that its a possibility, and I got unlucky. If you're going to use it all day every day, obviously you'll be better off paying for a much higher quality one. But if you're only doing crimps a few times a year, the minor inconvenience of the mechanism sticking is tolerable. For ~£12 is more than good enough for the job.Read full review

Seemed a bit over weight but once used I found it comfortable in hand and did a first class job for what it was intended for.

I bought this tool to complete small wiring project in my campervan. Initially I had no luck getting it to crimp, I contacted the seller (knocking-stick) who quickly replied with a list of things to check to ensure the tool worked. It transpires that this tool will NOT work with connectors that have heat shrink sleeving but works perfectly with the compression type sleeve. See the picture to ensure you purchase the correct connectors for this crimper, do not buy the connector with the light blue sleeving, these won't crimp!

I had one of these before. Lost it. Replaced with one from well known hardware retailer that fix screws. It was rubbish. You could pull the wire out of the crimp. Tried a few others afterwards. All terrible. Bought this brand again, you will break the wire before it pulls out. Awesome.
