Solid does the job
As other reviews have mentioned, it's worth keeping something under the log you're splitting so the tip of the wedge doesn't get damaged. It's great. Side splitting!
Faced with 'rounds' of hardwood, up to .5m diameter, thought I'd use this to split down to usable.......... First impressions are good, weighty, nicely finished, sharp point to 'start' insertion. Very effective and easy to use
Had my doubts about how well this would work on semi-seasoned oak. Using a 10lb sledge hammer it split a 10" thick slab in 6 or 7 blows - unbelievable! Was advised to buy 2 so when one got stuck I could use the second to rescue it. Wise advice.
