As far as pill poppers go this is about the best of the bunch. I have to pop out more than 500 pills per month for my disabled wife and have bought a number of Pill Poppers. This particular one is the best I have tried, but is only any good for solid caplet type pills like paracetamol and it still breaks a few of those. It is no good whatsoever for capsules as many will break open and lose the contents. I have reverted to scoring the foil or cardboard backing and popping them out with my thumb.

This is such a fiddle to get into the correct position to punch tablets through the wrapping. You have to position the top "tongue" EXACTLY over the pill and if it's only SLIGHTLY out of place it doesn't work. If you have arthritic hand joints, as I do, it's even more difficult to use than simply pushing the tablet with your fingers. Inexpensive, BUT a waste of money.

This product is well made in one piece but it doesn't make the task of round pill popping from blister packs easier. The one piece design means that top arm is likely to twist and not match up precisely with the hole in the base which leads to crushed pills and a lot of effort for an older person. The top plunger must register with the bottom hole every time otherwise the product is useless.

Unfotrtunately, all the reviews on this product were broadly negative. I can understand why, because it's an excellent concept, however if your medication is a large round tablet, it won't fit into the aperture which is a large oval shape. It's fine for large oval tablets and smaller tablets of any shape but you have to be careful when positioning the foiled strips, as if you are not dead centre, the tablets tend to get crushed. The unit is not stable and moves when positioning strips of pills. It's helpful with about 50% of my meds - you do have to concentrate to make sure that your pills aren't crushed to powder though. I would not recommend for those with arthritic hands, as it would prove difficult to use. I was disappointed. One to avoid, I'm afraid.

Works well with smaller tablets and oval shaped ones but not quite so good on the larger round ones such as Metformin. Would recommend it for anyone who has difficulty pushing tablets out of their packaging.
