Rubi TP-66-S manual tile cutter. New and improved version of the popular Rubi TI-66-S tile cutter. Ideal for cutting porcelain tiles and intensive cutting of ceramic tiles. Rubi TP-66-S PROFESSIONAL MANUAL TILE CUTTER.
Cuts thick porcelain with ease. You need to apply more pressure when scoring porcelain but with a bit of practice on some spare tiles (go see Topps and grab some from their recycle bin) it cuts great.
Pro's:
1) Lightweight to carry about.
2) Cutting guide comes off quickly & easily then stows on the base when not in use.
3) Support arm for long tiles actually works (unlike some cutters).
4) Sprung loaded cutter bed (the large silver bits) keeps the tile supported flat until the tile is cut (when it needs to 'bend')
5) Push scoring easy to control for a fluid score
6) 1000kg breaking power for really thick tiles, I tried a few cuts down at Topps
Some minor negative points:
1) You can't see the scoring wheel without getting your head down there to line it up.
2) The cutting guide is very wide and has to be fitted in use, it's like carrying around a crossbow.....
3) The fold out support arm (shown on the right) can be swapped to the left but you need an allen key to do it so it's not a 2 second job. Once on the left it cannot be folded away fully as the carrying handle gets in the way. As I am right handed I prefer the bulk of the tile on the left so I can support it whilst scoring with my right hand.
4) The breaker is a little fiddly to flick down automatically, I haven't acquired the knack so just do it myself.
The pro's far outweigh the cons, if the support arm was easier to switch sides I would give it 5 stars
