Little, Clean, Punchy and good lookin'!
I am amazed. Sub Arrived quickly from Monoprice. I have read many negatives about this little guy, however I cannot find any issues in the first hour of use. Here are the facts. I own a pioneer AV Receiver, so it of course has a dedicated Sub pre-out like most do. 1. Opened the box (very clean wood smell, black and could still slightly smell the stain. elegant finish) 2. Took the plastic off after the foam inserts. VERY well packaged directly from the manufacturer 3. Plugged in the power, plugged in the y-cable I bought separately to the back of the unit, then to my receiver. 4. Set the volume on 50% same with the crossover knob. it goes from 50HZ to 150HZ and it's around 75-80HZ in the middle. 5. Set my crossover at 100HZ on the receiver and volume for the sub (the receiver's volume) at 0dB 6. I turned on some EDM from Juicy M in just stereo mode (no surround just 2.1) 7. BLOWN AWAY!! The low's are clean, no distortion at high volumes (obviously reasonably high with some vibration in my glass tables in a 14x10 room) beats are punchy, not muddy and very smooth and tight sounding. I own a 2 bedroom apartment. This wasn't to blast the windows off, but I needed something that was small enough (why I got 8" not larger) that I could still hear clean, and punchy bass at low volumes. The driver in this unit performs clean and punchy bass even at the "midnight" setting which takes 80% of the power out of the sub, but it still performs where you can hear the bass and lower-end in even dialogue well For less than $70, I'm seriously blown away by the price, value and performance of this little sub. A lot of bang for the buck
I needed a smaller subwoofer for my laptop sound system (which has Bluetooth). I am running a Vizio SB3820 2.0 soundbar with a SUB-OUT. I connected this Monoprice subwoofer to it and set the values to around mid-point. I wasn't expecting much from this subwoofer...but, holy smokes, great open and deep throaty bass. I own several powered subwoofers, my Dayton Audio 15" 150w being the largest. So, I know what good bass is like. I did an online subwoofer test on this 8" Monoprice...got audible bass down to 40 Hz. At that point it really starts to drop off. Not bad! I think the front firing port is an excellent idea...more natural sound with NO port noise or huffing. I leave the "Power ON" all the time. I think what impresses me the most is the amount clean bass down to 40 Hz. As for power output and RMS freaks...more than adequate at 60w and what I need it to do. For an average sized bedroom, den, or small living room theater system...not a bad choice. A larger room or higher volumes will require a second one of these or a larger subwoofer (I recommend the Dayton Audio 12" or 15" for earth shattering bass)...those are solid units at a great price tooVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Just what I needed

Excellent Sub for Price
This subwoofer does a terrific job for moderate wattage sound systems. Replaced my old sub in a 5.1 system and the monoprice sub fattened the sound beautifully. Crossover control helps match the existing frequency range and once gain was set, a great blend was created. Bang for your buck

Very good buy.

Great Value Bottom End!
