Low price and good feature list.
This is the second PWS (Personal Weather Station) I have owned. Both were lower priced units (i.e. not made by Davis Instruments) and if you are Ok with the lower build quality than a Davis Vantage Pro 2 station offers, then this one is just fine. It connects to Weather Underground as well as the Acurite in-house system with just a little bit of messing around. It's not 100% plug and play, but with a little bit of effort, it works. For the price I paid, its excellent, but just remember its not a "professional" high end unit and is not priced like one either. It's much better than a poke with a sharp stick, but just remember, THE professionals weather hardware (the Davis set up) is over $500 for the basic unit and up to $1100 with all the extras. This gear works and while I don't expect it to work forever, for the price I paid... it's great.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

THE ITEM IS LISTED AS BRAND NEW, HOWEVER IT IS NOT BRAND NEW. THE COMPANY THAT MANUFACTURES THE WEATHER STATION ACURITE ALSO HAS SOFTWARE FOR THE UNIT THAT ALLOWS YOU TO LINK IT TO A P.C. HOWEVER EVEN THOUGH THE SOFTWARE STATES IT WILL WORK WITH WINDOWS 10, I HAVE A P.C. WITH WINDOWS 10 PRO AND THE SOFTWARE WILL NOT WORK. THEREFORE I HAVE NO WAY TO LINK THE WEATHER STATION TO MY P.C. Nice Product
This isn't my first AcuRite product. I have been using them for years now and had great service. The reason for ordering this product was to have a spare 5-in-one sensor for when my current one dies. I was interested in the new display which offers "extended range" for reception of the sensor. The nice thing about the 5 in one sensor is that you can receive the information it is transmitting with multiple displays placed in different areas of the house. Simply set the receiver to the proper channel (a-b-or c) depending on which one your sensor is transmitting. If you are friendly with your neighbors, chances are that if they purchase a display, they can receive the information from your sensor if it is within range. My sensor is on a pole about 20 feet in the air near the property boundary with my neighbor to the north. I am currently using 3 different displays in different areas of my house and that works well for me. A compact unit that looks and works great.
All one piece, no assembly. Compact and yet has all the features I looked for. Especially barometer and wind and rain monitoring. Also has additional features. One feature I like is the "weather ticker". Like a real weather station, It tells me the peak wind and the rate of rain currently falling. Many other features also. Its just so easy
I've used a couple of different weather stations for my Dad over the years, and when his broke recently he decided on this unit. After installing his, I like it so much I got my own (and I only live 3 doors down). Installation is really a snap, no fiddling with settings and multiple units, just batteries and go. A LOT MORE than just the basics !
This item was easy to set up and appears to be of top quality. The rain gauge test was very accurate at factory settings. NO adjustment was required ! The weather data was NOT available to my Android cell phone once the base unit was unplugged from my PC. I assume the only way to avoid this would be attaching a bridge to your router. Or just keep the PC running 24/7. I am no guru at computers but I really just wanted to monitor rainfall for my gardening hobby. SO...… My purchase gave me the reliability I had counted on. Pretty Expensive for what you get out of it…..
Overall this weather station is descent to have in the house if you want to keep up with what’s going on with the weather in your area but for the price I thought that I would get more functionality out of it. I thought that this one could connect to my internet and and I could monitor the weather from anywhere using an app. That isn’t the case with this one. Plus, this one takes about 30 days before it is completely synced with the weather sender and they are giving you accurate information. I’ve had mine hooked up for 4-days now and somehow it lost track of the days and have started its 30 day count over again! Not cool!

Useful and Fun to have
Do plenty of research before buying. The picture shows a phone with your weather information but you need to purchase a Hub which is another 100 bucks to be able to go online. The unit has no wifi or internet connection. If you purchase the hub, you need to go on you tube and watch a video on hooking this up to the internet. No internet instructions come with it. Weather is not too accurate but you can adjust the rain gauge, temperature and humidity to compensate for accuracy.depending on where you set it up will be your accuracy. Once you set it up and spent the extra 100 bucks, it's a lot of fun. At Least for the sportsmen and geeks.

Feature rich but software buggie
The first thing I noticed was there were very few mounting solutions. The one given was not robust enough. There could be more pictures of different mounting solution with hardware ordering provided. Works Great!!
The AcuRite weather station arrived in a timely manner and was well packaged. Setup of the complete system took about half an hour. The hardest part was trying to find a place where nothing would interfere with the outside unit such as, buildings, metal, and shade. We elected to put the outside unit atop a 6-inch fence post about 5 feet above the ground and about 50 yards from the house. The inside unit we placed on and interior wall at the center of our living area as our home has a brick exterior. Once we plugged it in we were amazed that it connected to the outside unit and had a full signal. We adjusted the settings and we now have information about our weather in real time. The only issue we had with it was downloading the app. We tried several times and could not get it to work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
