Stick with the Wired Version
The original wired version of the Griffin PowerMate is fantastic and works well. The Bluetooth version is a bit too large and is harder to use. The top half is not well balanced and in fact can pop off very easily if not careful. No big deal as that’s where the batteries go but it makes the device feel cheap. Second, it’s Bluetooth. Which means it auto-shuts off to save battery. That sounds good until you reach over to turn up your volume and you realize it has to wake up and reconnect again. That’s kind of a pain. Also, the blue light isn’t as brilliant as the wired version and in fact has a brightness reduction setting to conserve battery power. The Bluetooth is a great idea, but in actual practice the wired version is actually a more useful and satisfying product to use. In short, it’s not terrible, but definitely a downgrade from the previous wired version.
