Strong suction and a long reach
I have had three spiders since buying this and so far it has a 100% success rate in picking them up. My last spider vac was one of the blue plastic types and had no suction at all. This one has a bigger fan with good suction and has no problem picking up quite big spiders. It is also very good at picking up spiders which have sought refuge in a corner, something the sliding-door type catchers can't do. The pick-up tube is quite long so it is very useful for reaching spiders in high places. Undoing the clips to release the beasties can be a bit fiddly but anyone with smaller fingers may find it easier than I do. The clips seem a bit flimsy but they haven't broken yet so may be stronger than they look. It takes six AA batteries which are not supplied but that can't be expected at this price. Perfect for the purpose
We used our very expensive handheld vacuum cleaner to catch wasps, until it broke... After much agonising we got this one and it was absolutely the right choice. The handle is long enough to reach insects on the ceiling and the suction is quite strong enough for the purpose. The mechanism for keeping them trapped inside is good. The odd enterprising wasp still gets past and back into the entrance funnel, but we use a champagne cork to close it off, which works perfectly.
