Having lived a healthy and pretty active life I suffered a head injury at the age of 40 (2014) followed by 6 weeks in hospital with skull surgery. As a result I've started suffering from seizures and been diagnosed with epilepsy. It's somewhat of a life change for me, my family, my friends and my work.
After a couple of years of it and numerous appointments with epileptic consultants and nurses I still felt I didn't really understand epilepsy and what the effects of living with it are. Searching online I came across this book and being an avid reader I thought I'd give it a try.
I'm English and the book is American - no great shakes, but many references in the book are to American laws and lifestyles. I'm now halfway through the book and have trained myself to discount some of these references, however many of them still apply in England.
Overall the book seems well written by knowledgeable people. I've found the simplified explanations (and diagrams) of how epileptic seizures happen and what goes on when they happen is really enlightening. Personally I feel I have a better understanding of epilepsy.
Still reading it and still enjoying it!
