So versatile and clean to use
Throw away the sikaex for sealant applications- this stuff is so versatile- roll it thin between fingers ( like plasticine) for smaller deck fittings, or around screw threads. gives a non drying/ cracking seal easy to break joint if required. Great shelf life until needed. And no messy clean up afterwards.

Using Butyl Tape to bed Deck Fittings
I'd read reports that this material was a good alternative to silicon and other products for bedding down deck fittings on a boat. I've now used it (during cold weather, I might add) to assist the fitting of new clutches, jammers and other gear on an old Westerly I'm refurbishing, and it works a treat. There are useful instructions re the use of butyl tape for this purpose on YouTube.
