  • Good mid range cutter with several useful features absent on cheap machines. Quiet. Heavy, long.

After years using the most basic diy bosch multi cutter I’m pleased to upgrade. Firstly it’s quieter, more of a zzzzz than a RRRRR! The concave sections on the side of the head are nice to hold ergonomically while cutting, the unusual trigger option I find make it better to control when cutting, you can ease in and out with a softer start than on/off models and lower speed intuitively if the cut starts to burn, a lock is provided on top speed. I found the accessory kit separately, the dust extraction was a draw for me working indoors in a finished environment, it works reasonably well, the port coming off the side can make it bulky difficult to use in restricted areas and it’s only possible really to mount on the right, the plunge cut finger can only be used when cutting straight on but at least there is an extraction option for plunging, doing plasterboard at height previously has left me working one handed holding the vac hose. You can do ok just leaving the finger off, on a powerful extractor this pulls in dust locally produced anyway, it does stress the vacuum though being so small an opening. Led light is really great as with extraction only works for forward cutting but means I don’t always need a head torch! Nice long power cord. Depth control I haven’t used yet but seems sensible/robust. Downsides: it’s comparatively long with the back handle, I wonder why it was made so. The tool free blade change whilst appreciated is quite tough to hold back whilst changing and I’d imagine ups the machines weight, it only works with blades with no back so starlock etc must be used via the Allen key adapter, the location points (ios) are useless on this being so faint, again I wonder why..it’s like dewalt wants to make starlock look bad and bosch make all other blade types unusable! Can’t we all just get along! Overall for a mid range cutter I’m very happy with it, I prefer the look of bosch but I’m not being tied to their blades!
