  • Stable but runs a bit hot

A nice upgrade over the e5700 but core temps run 52/57C @ idle vs the 35/39C of the original. 65/67C @ 100% load using Prime95 for 3 days w/o any errors. The HP Omni Pro 110 it's in doesn't have a CPU fan only an aluminum/copper tube fin-style heatsink connected to the case fan which runs @ 1566 RPM & seems to do the job. No BSOD, No Stalls, No Lock-ups running Win7 Pro 32/64-bit 4GB on dual-boot. It's a great processor to upgrade an older computer with an LGA775 socket. 4 instead of 5 stars for the higher temps.

  • Excellent seller, item well pakaged, fast shipping

The E8400 Core 2 Duo is a very reliable and strong processor. Yes there are plenty of newer and faster, I have some, but really can tell the difference in performance. The salvage prices compared to the cpu power make it an off the chart great buy. Plenty of used Dell and HP small foot print desk tops available used with LGA775 sockets.

  • Upgraded a Dell Inspiron 530.

I acquired a Dell Inspiron 530 from my father in law and decided to upgrade it for my wife. It had a single core Celeron 450 2.2Ghz cpu in it, threw this E8400 in there and now it screams and gave it new life. Also added 2gb more of ram for a total of 4gb now and a Ati Radeon 4670 PCI-E gpu. For effect i replaced the stock heatsink fan with one with purple leds and added a purple led case fan, loaded Win 10 64-Bit on it and she loves it. The reason i upgraded this old computer is it was my wifes deceased grandmas that she bought new around 2009. So it's sentimental to her.

  • Fast, low-power processor for its age.

Received this processor May 9th to put in a Dell Optiplex 720 tower I converted into a home file server that is always left on. I stream 1080p files from this server, as well as backup other computers and files. I've used the computer for virtualization a little bit as well. This processor has had no issues in the first month I've had it, even with leaving the computer on 24/7 with the occasional restart. It replaced a e7300 which was okay but for less than $10 this processor has been worth the money for how much more responsive and snapy the computer has been.

  • E8400 3.00GHz LGA775

This is the only way I will ever upgrade my computers in the future. You can't go wrong for the price paid. I have four Computers that use the LGA775 slot motherboards, three of which are using the E8400 3.00GHz and the other is a Quad Core Q9650 3.00GHz. For normal everyday computing I have not yet found the Q9650 to be any better than the E8400. Compare $10.00 to $70.00, for $60.00 more you can feel like you have done what others paid over $400.00 for 8-10 years ago and still get a very small improvement in performance. Just my opinion.

  • Old PC with a new life

Used this CPU to upgrade a Dell Vostro 200. It made a noticeable difference in performance especially after upgrading the memory to 8Gig. It installed easily and the standard heat sink & fan that were one the original CPU works fine to keep it cool. It's a good upgrade at a very reasonable price.

  • Cost effective upgrade for LGA775 PC

The CPUs were packaged well, shipped quickly, in very good condition and worked great. A great way to upgrade a PC that accept the specs for this CPU and unable to upgrade to a Quad CPU. It had doubled the CPU speed of OEM motherboard, using CPUZ numbers and operations. Additional RAM and using a SSD for a hard drive also help. Research the PC/motherboard websites for confirmation of comparability. Updating BIOS, verify the highest front-side bus (FSB), Thermal Design Power (TDP) (65, 95and 104), chip-set and of course the socket identifier. Very cost effective to maintain a PC able to use Win10 or Ubuntu.

  • New life to a Vista machine!

One of the simplest upgrades I've ever done. 4 screws and fresh silver thermal paste on the cpu. Couldn't have been any easier. Install and reboot with no problems recognizing the upgrade. Around 5 bucks for a 50% improvement in cpu speed.
