Disappointing
Bought for a one off job, so I didn't want to pay a lot. The grub screws on the long extension were tightened carefully but loosened and were lost after about a minute. The short extension was a bit better and I finished the job with that, although one of the screws had loosened a bit by the end. This was Amtech brand. Both the shafts were straight. It did what I wanted and it's not quite bad enough to send back. It wouldn't do for regular use. To improve it would need either better quality grub screws or a different locking mechanism.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Flawed by the soft steel
Looks like it would do the job but actually the steel is soft and will bend quite easily. I was using on a wood beam with 22mm flat blade and the long shaft soon went out of true. Having said that, because its soft its easy to get near to true again. Probably needs some heat treatment to harden shaft? The item is ok for driving screws etc. BUT for my purpose , the engineering quality is very poor . The shafts have a bend in them ( causing a major wobble ) and the end fittings are not machined true , to the shaft line . SORRY but not for me .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Cheap and wonky but did the job, ok value given the price
As I read in other reviews, ‘as straight as a cork screw’ and it certainly is. Note although this product looks unbranded I actually received an Amtech brander product as listed in other listings as being like a cork screw. However this product was able (just about) to drill the deeper holes I needed (300mm) in my wooden workshop. This product is ok for rough non accurate or non precise holes but that it. very poor quality item
when using both pieces together, the grub screws do not grip the shank of the mating piece because the metal is very soft and the leading piece spins rounding the shank. i had to drill and pin the two pieces together to be able to drill a 25mm hole in 2mm wall plastic pipe!. altogether a piece of cheap and nasty crap!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
