The real bus entered service in Fort William during 1981, along with several sisters throughout the Highland Region. In 1985 all were swapped for Leyland Leopards and went to the bright lights around Glasgow with the newly formed Kelvin company. The bus then visited the paint shop and emerged in the Kelvin scheme shown in the photos. After several years it ventured even further south arriving in East Anglia with Eastern Counties plus the obligatory visit to the paint shop! The model of the mk2 vehicles does not have the rotund nature of the front profile as shown in my photo of “AST” posed nose to nose with a yet to be completed Pirate model. The back end lacks the inset area to the engine cover (as per photo) Which it would have had during the period of the model. There are several other details either omitted or not appropriate for this vehicle . On the plus side the livery is well decorated and given the diecast nature of the model is durable. The seats inside have the tops of the seats picked out in silver, a nice touch BUT all MK2 seats were topped in black! It is a nice looking model, the livery helping to reduce the shortcomings of the casting.Read full review
